Vyzit

Hi lovebugs, I had the opportunity to talk with Akil, a young entrepreneur with a vision to help bridge the gap between doctors and patients. He and his team have created Vyzit, a platform created to do just that.

You know when you call up the GP and you unfortunately get Moany Maureen, well days of unhelpful/moany receptionists may be numbered with software like Vyzit! Instead you could go straight to Dr Patel or Khan! Which reduces the long and sometimes unnecessary trip to the A&E.

Since this is something that could help all of us gain access to medical help quickly from our doctors, it’s worth a read.

1. How did you come up to the idea of Vyzit?  Did you identify a problem within the healthcare industry that you thought could be solved?

Vyzit chose us. After spending nine months building various forms of communication technologies and getting nowhere we made a visit to the health tech meet up held by Tony Young who is the Director of Innovation at NHS. After a conversation with him about the government's "Five years forward" initiative, trying to digitalize healthcare we realized the real use for our technology stack.

We had everything to make a patient care platform work, all we had to do is stitch it the pieces together and give it a name. And after making a few phone calls to see if this was something the industry actually wanted we did exactly that. Maciej and Alex, our graphics designer and technical lead named the platform Vyzit.

2. What is the sole aim of the virtual solution Vyzit and please describe what it does?

Vyzit is a remote patient care platform, and we use our platform to facilitate the digitalization of healthcare. That's the sole aim. To facilitate. To make things a little easier and to help improve inefficiencies seen in healthcare, especially the notion of waiting ten days to see your doctor for ten minutes.

3. When did you know you had a keen interest in entrepreneurship?

How cliché is it to say "from when I was a child I knew I was interested in entrepreneurship"? When I was about 12 I started a car washing business every summer for three years to make extra pocket money as my mother refused to buy me games for my play station. Turns out after making money for myself I didn't want to buy video games either but I reinvested into my own business but the best car cleaner soap and shammies.

I knew I had something it was just dependent on me if I was going to pursue it on a grander scale or just be someone who said "I used to run my own business", and it being almost a joke that I was harping on about something I did nearly ten years ago like it was just as impressive being an adult doing the same thing.

4. Give the readers 5 reasons why health care providers should bother investing into this solution?

- Vyzit enables GPs able to treat more patients in less time, with less cost and increased revenue.

- Vyzit can reduce unnecessary patient’s admissions or readmissions.

- The service of Vyzit provides healthcare providers healthcare with an IT applications which is not bulky or complicated.

- Vyzit is elastic in usage and scales with the demand of the practice.

- Finally Vyzit is cloud based. It upgrades, and we at Comuzi upgrade and update Vyzit according to the need of the healthcare providers as a whole.

 5. What has been your major hurdle so far?

Our major hurdle has been the NHS and getting into their procurement process. In my opinion they scream for innovation but then tie your hands and put up a wall of bureaucracy in front of you. Making it nearly impossible unless you have money to ride out the process, and many health tech start ups usually don't!

 6.  How can the end users like us support the solution? Will there be an opportunity to test it out as an end user?

As an end user if you want to see your doctor online tell them about us and give them my email (akil@comuziapp.com) so we can facilitate that action in a secure manner. Vyzit is developing into a platform that not just facilitates the health care provider to go digital but also empower the patient to take control of their own healthcare by soon allowing them access to their own patient record.

7. Why healthcare? Have you always had an interest in this industry?

I have an Associate’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. I also have love for music and I am a classically trained musician but from my degree healthcare has always been of interest in one way or another. Adding that to other members in the company's personal reasons for wanting something like this in the world and you have a group of like minded individuals wanting to disrupt healthcare.

 8. Was it hard to set your business up? What has been the biggest challenge thus far?

It is not very hard to set up a business at all, using Companies House I am sure you can set up a company within 24 hours. The biggest challenge is keeping it alive, to show up to work every day and keep going even after major disappointment, recognizing when you are wrong or have made a mistake and rectifying it.

 9. If you could give one piece of advice that would motivate or inspire someone what would it be?

Start and keep going. Don't stop! If it's a good idea stick to it, it will take all your money in the beginning and probably you temporarily broke but if it's worth the time and effort and you are seeing progress keep going.

My life right now can be boiled down to this quote:
"Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”
Just remember nothing comes for free and huge success takes huge sacrifice.
